On April 16, 2024, at about 4:44 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles occurred in the area of Kapolei Parkway and Kamokila Boulevard, in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 65-year-old male motorist was stopped in traffic on Kapolei Parkway, in the dedicated left turn lane for Kamokila Boulevard, when he experienced an unknown medical emergency.
During this medical episode the 65-year-old male’s vehicle rolled forward and rear ended a 41-year-old female motorist, who was also stopped in traffic, waiting to turn left.
The 65-year-old male’s vehicle then went into reverse and rolled backward, colliding into a 47-year-old male motorist and his 50 year-old front seat passenger, who were also stopped in traffic.
Both collisions were low speed with low impact and induced minimal damage.
The 65-year-old male motorist was taken to an area hospital critical condition.
The 41-year-old female motorist, the 47-year-old male motorist and his 50-year-old passenger were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is on going.
