On January 2, 2023, at about 9:05 PM, a critical hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the area of North Kukui Street and Maunakea Street in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 76-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross North Kukui Street in a marked crosswalk against the “Do Not Walk” sign when he was struck by an unknown motorist who has yet to be identified.
The unknown motorist fled the scene of the collision and was last seen traveling eastbound on North Kukui Street, possibly operating a white pickup truck.
As a result of the collision, the 76-year-old male pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
