On November 26, 2024, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 79-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 42nd Traffic Fatality of 2024 as compared to 51 at the same time in 2023.
The investigation remains on-going.

On November 08, 2024, at about 4:08 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kalihi Street near Eluwene Street in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 49-year-old female motorist was attempting to turn left from Eluwene Street onto Kalihi Street, when she struck a 79-year-old female pedestrian, who was crossing the roadway within a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the female pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 49-year-old female motorist was not injured and remained at the scene.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
