On July 11, 2023, at about 4:13 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred on Farrington Highway, westbound, in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 40-year-old adult male motorist and his two juvenile male passengers, traveling westbound in the left turn lane of Farrington Highway, collided with a 33-year-old adult male pedestrian who ran southbound across the roadway, not in a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 33-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 40-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and neither he nor his juvenile passengers were injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision on the part of the adult male motorist. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor on the part of the adult male pedestrian.
