On July 14, 2023, at about 12:23 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred on Farrington Highway, westbound, in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 23-year-old adult female motorist, traveling westbound in the left lane of Farrington Highway, collided with an unidentified adult female pedestrian who walked northbound across the roadway, not in a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the unidentified adult female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 23-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision on the part of the adult female motorist. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor on the part of the adult female pedestrian.
The investigation is ongoing.
