On August 15, 2023, at about 11:25 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision, involving a single motorcycle, occurred on the Nimitz eastbound off-ramp in the Kalihi Area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 54-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling on the Nimitz eastbound off-ramp, from the H-1 East Freeway, when he lost control and collided into the concrete center median wall, ejecting the adult male into the center median area.
As a result of the collision, the 54-year-old male motorcyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 54-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
