On March 12, 2024, at about 11:20 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision, involving a single motor vehicle, occurred on Kamehameha Highway in the Pearl City area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 36-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Kamehameha Highway in the eastbound lanes when he attempted to travel back into the westbound lanes at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Acacia Road and collided with a concrete rail transit pillar in the center median.
As a result of the collision, the 36-year-old male motorist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
