On December 19, 2024, at about 10:49 PM, a fatal hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the Makaha area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling southbound on Makaha Valley Road and struck a 65-year-old male pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.

The unidentified motorist continued traveling southbound on Makaha Valley Road without stopping to render aid or provide information.

As a result of the collision, the 65-year-old male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this collision.
