On April 6, 2023, at about 7:35 PM, a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on North School Street in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a male motorist who has yet to be identified was traveling westbound on North School Street at a high rate of speed when he sideswiped a 44 year old female motorist traveling eastbound.
As a result of the initial collision the vehicle of the unknown motorist spun out and was struck by a 36 year old male motorist also traveling eastbound.
The vehicle of the unknown motorist then traveled off of the roadway and onto the sidewalk and collided with a bus stop and a 76 year old female pedestrian who was waiting at the bus stop.
The unknown motorist fled the scene of the collision on foot last seen going westbound on North School Street.
The 76 year old female pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 44 year old female motorist and 36 year old male motorist were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time speed appears to be a contributing factor. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors of this collision.
