On May 21, 2023, at about 6:15 PM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist occurred in the area of Fort Weaver Road northbound, prior to Keaunui Drive in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 74-year-old male bicyclist was traveling northbound on Fort Weaver Road when he was struck from behind by an unknown motorist who has yet to be identified.
The unknown motorist continued northbound on Fort Weaver Road, fleeing the scene of the collision.
The unknown motorist was possibly operating a light-colored passenger van with possible damages to the front area.
As a result of the collision, the 74-year-old male bicyclist who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time it is unknown if either speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors of this collision.
