On December 29, 2024, at about 3:20 PM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred on Kamehameha Highway near Acacia Road, in the Pearl City area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 71-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Kamehameha Highway near Acacia Road, when for unknown reasons he lost control and was ejected onto the roadway.
While on the roadway the 71-year-old male motorcyclist was struck by an unknown motorist who has yet to be identified.
After the collision the unidentified motorist continued traveling westbound on Kamehameha Highway without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 71-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition by Emergency Medical Services.
The 71-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this collision.
