On March 24, 2025, at about 10:48 AM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision occurred on Ala Moana Boulevard prior to Atkinson Drive in the Waikiki area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 38-year-old male motorist, and his passengers, a 28-year-old male, a 39-year-old male, and two juveniles, were traveling westbound on Ala Moana Boulevard when he rear-ended a 42-year-old male motorist and his passengers, 43-year-old female and two juveniles who were at a stop in traffic.
As a result of the collision, one of the juvenile passengers of the 38-year-old male motorist sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
Following the collision, the 38-year-old male motorist fled the scene without rendering aid. He was located shortly afterward and subsequently placed under arrest for Collision Involving Substantial Bodily Injury.
No other occupants of either vehicle were injured.
Speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the collision.
