On January 10, 2024, at about 12:15 AM, a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist occurred on North Nimitz Highway in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling westbound in the right lane on North Nimitz Highway and collided with a 34-year-old adult male bicyclist, who was traveling eastbound in the westbound bike lane on North Nimitz Highway.
The unidentified motorist continued traveling westbound on North Nimitz Highway without stopping to render aid or provide information. The unidentified motorist was possibly driving a gold truck.
As a result of the collision, the 34-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors.
