On May 16, 2024, at about 11:10 PM, a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle occurred at the intersection of Aala Street and Vineyard Boulevard in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling northbound on Aala Street and attempted to execute a left turn onto Vineyard Boulevard when it collided with a 31-year-old male motorcyclist that was traveling southbound on Aala Street. The male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and sustained serious injuries.
The unidentified motorist continued traveling westbound on Vineyard Boulevard without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old male motorcyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 31-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed does not appear to be a factor. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors in this collision.
