On May 31, 2024, at about 10:48 PM, a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a moped occurred on Farrington Highway in the Waipahu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, a 51-year-old adult male moped rider was traveling westbound in the right lane on Farrington Highway when he was rear-ended by an unknown motorist ejecting the 50-year-old male moped rider onto the roadway.
The unidentified motorist continued traveling westbound on Farrington Highway without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the 51-year-old male moped rider was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The male moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
