On June 6, 2024, at about 5:15 PM, a serious hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist and a bicyclist occurred at the intersection of South Beretania Street and Fort Street in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorcyclist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling westbound on South Beretania Street at a high rate of speed, approaching the intersection of South Beretania Street and Fort Street when he collided with an adult male bicyclist who also has yet to be identified, who was attempting to cross South Beretania Street outside of a marked crosswalk and against the displayed “Do Not Walk” sign.
The unidentified motorcyclist then fled the scene of the collision on foot without stopping to render aid or provide information.
As a result of the collision, the unidentified adult male bicyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The unidentified adult male bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
