On December 12, 2024, at about 9:30 PM, a serious motor vehicle collision involving a electric motorcycle occurred on Ka Uka Boulevard in the Waipio area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a HPD Police Officer was traveling northbound on Ka Uka Boulevard, when he was broadsided by a juvenile male operating an electric motorcycle, who was traveling westbound on Waipio Uka Street.
As a result of the collision, the juvenile motorcyclist and his juvenile male passenger were ejected onto the roadway.
The juvenile motorcyclist and his juvenile passenger were later taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
The HPD Police Officer was not injured as a result of the collision.
The juvenile motorcyclist and his juvenile passenger were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
