***ORIGINAL***
On February 22, 2023, at about 5:30 AM, a fatal single motor vehicle collision occurred on California Avenue in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 70-year-old adult male motorist, traveling westbound on California Avenue, veered right of the roadway and collided into a wooden telephone pole.
As a result of the collision, the 70-year-old male motorist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 70-year-old male motorist was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
This is the11th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 9 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
