On March 5, 2023, at about 11:20 PM, a fatal single motor vehilce collision occurred on Kamehameha Highway in the Punaluu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an adult male motorcyclist, traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway, at a high rate of speed, for unknown reasons the motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle, and the motorcyclist is ejected onto the roadway and collided into a rock wall.
As a result of the collision, the adult male motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead.
The adult male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be contributing factor. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
This is the 12th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 14 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
