On March 2, 2025 at about 8:58 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a small sedan occurred on Pali Highway near the entrance to Saint Stephen Diocesan Center in the Kailua area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 56-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Pali Highway when he broadsided a 73-year-old female motorist traveling southbound on Pali Highway attempting to make a left turn into Saint Stephen Diocesan Center.
As a result of the collision, the 56-year-old motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 56-year-old motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 73-year-old motorist was also taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
This is the 14th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 5 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is on-going.
