On April 15, 2023, at about 2:55 AM, a fatal single motorcycle collision occurred on the H-1 West Freeway in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 31-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway, when he veered right of the roadway and collided into the metal guardrail, ejecting the 31-year-old adult male onto the roadway.
As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old adult male motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 31-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are factors.
This is the 18th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 16 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
