On July 12, 2024, at about 9:20 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the area of Ala Moana Boulevard and Queen Street in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 51-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound on Ala Moana Boulevard near the intersection of Queen Street when an unidentified male pedestrian attempted to walk across Ala Moan Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk into the path of the motorist and was struck.
As a result of the collision, the unidentified male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Service to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 51-year-old motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 18th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 28 at the same time in 2023.
The investigation is ongoing.
