On April 15, 2023, at about 4:09 PM, a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle occurred on the Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp in the Waipahu area. It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 50-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on the Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp at a high rate of speed, when he collided into the rear of another vehicle, ejecting the 50-year-old adult male onto the roadway.
As a result of the collision, the 50-year-old adult male motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 50-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are factors.
This is the 19th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 16 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
