On January 17, 2024, at about 5:10 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pick-up truck and a pedestrian occurred on Kahekili Highway in the Kahaluu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 67-year-old male motorist was traveling eastbound on Kahekili Highway when she struck a 37-year-old female pedestrian who appears to have been in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.

As a result of the collision, the 37-year-old female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 67-year-old male motorist was not injured and remained at the scene.

At this time speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.

This is the 2nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 2 at the same time in 2023.
