A serious motor vehicle collision occurred on June 1, 2021 at around 0710 hours in the Waianae area. The collision involved a single vehicle with a single female occupant. Unit 1, a small sedan was traveling west on Farrington Hwy. and for an unknown reason left the roadway and collided with a curb. After colliding with the curb, the vehicle continued and collided with a guard rail. As a result of the collision the female was fatally injured and pronounced dead on scene.
At this time, speed, alcohol, and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in the collision. It appears that distracted driving may have been a factor in the collision.
This is the 22nd Fatality of this year as compared to 17 at this time last year.
