On April 30, 2023, at about 09:00 AM, a fatal single motorcycle collision occurred in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 26-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Kunia Road and took the Kunia off ramp that leads to Farrington Highway westbound. The motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control on the turn where he was ejected onto the roadway.
As a result of the collision, the 26-year-old adult male motorcyclist was transported, via Emergency Medical Services, to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The 26-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in this collision.
This is the 24th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 18 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
