On August 6, 2023, at about 11:05 AM, a fatal pedestrian motor vehicle collision occurred in the area of Wilikina Drive and Lake View Circle in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 46-year-old adult female motorist and her passenger, a 38-year-old female, were traveling southbound on Wilikina Drive.
As the 46-year-old female was traversing southbound, a 56-year-old male pedestrian attempted to cross Wilikina Drive outside of a marked crosswalk, and as the 46-year-old female’s vehicle past the 56-year-old male pedestrian, he then stumbled and fell colliding with the rear driver side of the moving vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the 56-year-old male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 46-year-old female motorist remained at the scene. Neither the 46-year-old female motorist nor her 38-year-old female passenger were not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 31st Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 27 at the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
