On August 10, 2023, at about 12:55 AM, a fatal single motor vehicle collision occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 34-year-old adult female motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when, for unknown reasons, she traveled right of the roadway, over the curb, and collided into a utility pole.
As a result of the collision, the adult female motorist was transported, via Emergency Medical Services, to an area hospital in critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The adult female motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, it appears that speed may be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs is a factor.
This is the 34th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 29 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
