On August 21, 2023, at about 5:00 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision, involving a motorcyclist, occurred on Kaukonahua Road in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 20-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Kaukonahua Road, at a high rate of speed, when he lost control, and dropped the motorcycle traveling into the southbound lane of Kaukonahua Road.
As a result the 20-year-old male motorcyclist was then struck by a 21-year-old adult male motorist and his passenger a 20-year-old female.
The 20-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 20-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 21-year-old motorist was not injured but his 20-year-old female passenger was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol is a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
