On September 13, 2023, at about 10:40 PM, a fatal single motorcycle collision occurred in the Waipahu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 41-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Fort Weaver Road, when he traveled onto the Waipahu off-ramp at a high rate of speed and lost control. The adult male motorcyclist collided into a metal street lamppost and was ejected onto the roadway.
As a result of the collision, the 41-year-old adult male motorcyclist was transported, via Emergency Medical Services, to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 41-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are factors.
This is the 39th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 36 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
