On October 11, 2023, at about 10:10 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred in the Airport area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 57-year-old female motorist was traveling westbound at the Airport off-ramp at a high rate of speed when she collided with the concrete guardrail.

The 57-year-old female motorist then went over the concrete guardrail and plunged to final rest, landing on Aolele Street.

As a result of the collision, the 57-year-old female motorist succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 57-year-old female motorist was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

At this time it appears that speed may be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.

This is the 42nd Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 37 at the same time in 2022.

The investigation is ongoing.
