On November 4, 2023, at about 4:45 PM, a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the intersection of Kilani Avenue and Koa Street in the Wahiawa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 72 year old female motorist was traveling westbound on Kilani Avenue at the intersection of Koa Street when she collided with a 90 year old male pedestrian who crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 90 year old male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in good condition.
The 72 year old female motorist was not injured and remained at the scene of the collision.
On November 9, 2023, at about 5:30PM, the Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was informed by the Medical Examiner’s Office that the 90 year old male pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 49th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 45 at the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
