On February 14, 2023, at about 5:32 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the area of Likelike Highway and Burmeister overpass in the Kalihi area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 28-year-old female motorist and her passengers were traveling southbound on Likelike Highway when she struck a 32-year-old female pedestrian who was standing in the southbound traffic lanes of Likelike Highway.

The 32-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The 28-year-old female motorist and her passengers were not injured as a result of the collision.

At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.

This is the 6th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 7 at the same time in 2022.

The investigation is ongoing.
