On February 17, 2023, at about 8:40 PM, a fatal single motor vehicle collision occurred on Kamehameha Highway in the Kualoa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 29-year-old adult male motorist, traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway, veered right of the roadway and collided into a rock retaining wall.
As a result of the collision, the 29-year-old male motorist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 29-year-old male motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors in this collision.
This is the 9th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 7 during the same time in 2022.
The investigation is ongoing.
