On April 20, 2024, at about 9:50 PM, a fatal single motor vehicle collision occurred on Ala Moana Boulevard in the Waikiki area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 34-year-old adult male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Ala Moana Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, he traveled left of the roadway, into the concrete center divider, was ejected from the motorcycle and collided into a streetlamp pole.
As a result of the collision, the 34-year-old adult male motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The adult male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs is a factor.
This is the 9th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 12 during the same time in 2023.
The investigation is ongoing.
